This one-day workshop is designed to meet the requirements of TMSA3, of OCIMF-INTERTANKO joint initiative guiding tool “Behavioural Competency Assessment and Verification for Vessel Operators” and of IMO Model Course 1.30 “On Board Assessment.” The training material is focused on the development of key soft skills required in shipboard management that enhance safety and further reduce incident rates. Furthermore skills, abilities and motivation play a major role in performance at both an individual and organizational level. High performing organizations increasingly recognize that it is not just what people do but how they do their jobs. Also, competency frameworks offer a structured approach to managing, appraising and improving performance by reinforcing values and encouraging a common culture.

This workshop provides both educational and practical guidance for those committed to the empowerment and assessment of soft skill competency along with the assessment of technical skills during routine vessel operations of seafarers on board.

Who should attend the workshop: Shipboard Officers, Operational Ship Managers & Superintendents, HSQE & Vetting Managers, Instructors, and everyone who serves the Greek Maritime Cluster and is interested in developing key soft skills for both personal and professional development.

Methodology: This program will include interactive games, teamwork, role plays and case studies so that participants can identify their communication and leadership style, increase their self-awareness and learn how to develop, lead and manage their teams to bring results.

After completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Search for ways to overcome communication and cultural barriers.
